Linens 101

Table of Contents

Linens 101When you’re decorating for a wedding or any other formal party or event, linens quickly become a popular topic. Linens can be the key to upping the style and class of your event and are important in creating the right overall look and mood.

When most people think of linens, they think only of tablecloths and napkins. However, there are many different types of linens that can be used to transform your location. When renting linens it is important to not only consider the different colors and types of fabrics, but how these different types of linen can be used. To help you make your choice, let’s take a brief look at several different types of linens.

Tablecloths

Yes, this is the big one. Tablecloths can be used both for individual eating tables as well as serving tables (often, banquet style tables). When renting table linens it’s important not only to know the total number of tables, but the different types. Round table cloths will not fit on a banquet table, and neither will a banquet tablecloth fit on a round table. Tablecloths instantly give your event an elevated sense of class.

Napkins

Choosing to rent cloth napkins over normal paper napkins will take your event to the next level of elegance. Cloth napkins come in a variety of colors, and can be used to accentuate any color themes that you have. They can also be folded into different intricate shapes and designs, which gives a fun and modern feel to your event.

Runners

Runners are longs, rectangular pieces of cloth that “run” down the center of your banquet style tables. Runners can either be solid colors or include designs, and are used to complement your table setting. Ideally, your table runner should be about 1/3 the width of your table and about 12 inches longer than its length, and your table setting or centerpiece is placed directly onto the runner.

Overlays

Overlays are cloths that are designed to be placed over the tablecloth of your round tables. Overlays give you table an added sense of style, textures, and dimension. With their various colors and textures, overlays can be used to emphasize your color scheme and can add variety to your overall design.

Chair Covers

If you are not thrilled with the look, material, or color of your chairs, you can change it in a flash by adding a chair cover. Chair covers slip over the chair, covering them in beautiful material. You can also use chair covers to integrate your chairs into your overall design.

Sashes

Sashes can be added to your rented chairs to accessorize them and them that “Wow” factor. Sashes are ties onto the back of the chair, giving a pop of color and providing a contemporary elegant feel.
