When you’re planning your wedding, it’s important that everything is perfect. While many brides choose to take a more traditional route, many others want to incorporate the latest trends into their special day as a way of making it modern and fresh. Here is a look at some of the biggest wedding trends for 2013.
Patterns
Many wedding designers are seeing more and more patterns being incorporated into wedding day décor. Chevrons, stripes, gingham, polka dots, and paisley are all showing up in everything from table runners to bridesmaid dresses. The possibilities of where patterns can be incorporated are virtually endless.
Fun and Creativity
Couples have more freedom than ever to express their personality through their wedding style. One of the areas where couples can have more fun (and show large amounts of creativity) is in the food. Outside of a traditional sit-down dinner, couples are offering food and snack stations such as s’mores, popcorn, mashed potato bars, snow cones, and cotton candy. Some have even capitalized on the food truck craze by having a variety of food trucks at their wedding or reception. Other areas where couples show their creativity are by incorporating games (such as horseshoes or bocce ball) or interactive entertainment (such as fortune tellers).
Unusual Venues
While churches, ballrooms, and hotels remain some of the most popular venue choices for weddings, many couples are starting to think outside the box. With a little ingenuity and some great equipment, you can transform almost any space into a great venue. Some more popular choices include barns and warehouses.
Glamour
Even with the use of patterns, fun and creative ideas, and unusual venues, there is a push to return to the glamour of yesteryear. This return to tradition is evidenced in the popularity of new movies such as Anna Karenina and The Great Gatsby. Inspired by these reminders of more elegant times, many couples are searching for the elegance and glamour of previous generations.
Lace
Part of the glamour of yesteryear is evident in the returning popularity of lace. While lace has been a part of bridal fashion since the beginning of time, it has recently made a huge push into the forefront of both wedding gowns and wedding décor. When paired with the proper elements, instead of appearing old-fashioned, lace comes off as vintage, chic, or rustic. Many brides are incorporating lace in many wedding details, from the invitations to the actual cake.
